Coast Guard Assisting Flooded Fishing Boat Off Nantucket

BOSTON (AP) — The Coast Guard is assisting a fishing boat that started filling with water off Nantucket.

They were notified at around 12:45 a.m. Saturday that 51-foot fishing boat Miss Shauna started taking on water about 130 miles east of the Massachusetts island. The water was coming through a hole in the boat's engine room.

The Coast Guard said the boat's seven-member crew reported their pumps were keeping up with the flooding, but the rate of flooding was increasing.

The guard dispatched aircraft and cutters, which provided the crew additional pumps.

The guard is now escorting the boat to New Bedford. It is expected to arrive around 4 a.m. Sunday. No injuries have been reported.
