Clerk Handcuffed During Armed Robbery At Canton Convenience Store

CANTON (CBS) -- A clerk was handcuffed during an armed robbery at a Canton convenience store Saturday afternoon, police said.

Canton Police were called to Andalus Variety Mart on Turnpike Street around 1:30 p.m. The clerk told officers that he had been robbed by two males, one of which was carrying a gun, according to the Canton Police Facebook page.

While handcuffed, the clerk managed to get to a phone and dial 911 after the suspects ran out of the store, police say.

One of the suspects is described as a light-skinned male, while the other was described as a dark-skinned male wearing dark-colored pants and dark sweatshirt.

Canton Police chief Ken Berkowitz called the suspects "dangerous" and asked the public to contact investigators if spotted. The suspects sped away in a silver BMW, police say.

The incident remains under investigation by police. Anyone with information is asked to call Canton Police at (781) 828-1212.
