Clay Buchholz Headed Back To Red Sox Starting Rotation

BOSTON (CBS) – Clay Buchholz is getting a second chance.

The Red Sox pitcher, who was relegated to bullpen duties after a difficult start to the season, will be returning to the starting rotation on Tuesday.

Manager John Farrell told reporters on Saturday that Buchholz will start against the Chicago White Sox.

The move will allow Eduardo Rodriguez, who has also been struggling amid concerns of pitch tipping, to throw an extra bullpen session in advance of his Wednesday start.

Red Sox starting pitchers have a combined 4.68 ERA, which is 21st in Major League Baseball.

Buchholz has a 5.86 ERA in 10 starts this season.
