Clay Buchholz Mum On Move To Bullpen

BOSTON (CBS) – So what does Clay Buchholz think about being moved from the Red Sox starting rotation into the bullpen?

It's not clear because Buchholz didn't appear to feel like talking about it on Saturday.

According to reporters in the locker room in Toronto, Buchholz declined to speak to the media before Saturday afternoon's game – other than one comment.

"I got moved to the bullpen. You can write it down," Buchholz reportedly said under his breath.

On Friday, the struggling pitcher learned that he is no longer in the rotation. Instead, manager John Farrell said Buchholz will be used in a long relief role while Eduardo Rodrigez takes his spot.

Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reported Saturday that while Red Sox coaches expected Buchholz to be available out of the bullpen by Sunday or Monday, Buchholz volunteered to pitch Saturday if needed.

Buchholz is 2-5 with an ERA of 6.35 in 10 starts for the Red Sox this season.
