Claude Julien Completely Unconcerned With Danger Of Losing His Job

When things start going bad for any sports team in Boston, the natural progression of reactions quickly leads to some folks calling for the head coach to be fired.

While the flames may not be lit and the pitchforks may still be in the barn when it comes to Bruins boss Claude Julien, there have nevertheless been some rumblings regarding a potential shake-up if the Bruins don't miss the playoffs.

Now in his eighth season in Boston, Julien has dealt with such talk before, so he's not exactly spending much time thinking about it right now.

"I've got to come in here and do my job," Julien said. "It doesn't matter what other people think, and I'm talking about whether upper management thinks there needs to be a change or whatever. Those things don't matter to me. What matters to me is I have to come in and do a job here. Whatever they decide, they can decide. It really doesn't matter to me. If they think I can do the job, that's great. If they don't think that the job was done to the expectations that it should have been done, that's their prerogative.

"But those things don't even faze me the least bit. Trust me when I say that," Julien continued. "I'm here, I'm happy, I'm doing my job, I'm working with players and people around me I enjoy working with, and when that doesn't suffice anymore, then we move on. That's the life of a coach."

Billy Jaffe was in studio with Zolak and Bertrand, and they discussed Claude's comments.

"Because he's confident, and because he's good," Jaffe said in explaining Julien's stance. "Boston Bruins fans should appreciate the honesty that they're actually getting from everybody, right? They're getting some pretty interesting, candid answers."
