Massachusetts State Rep. Claire Cronin Nominated To Become Ambassador To Ireland

BOSTON (CBS) – President Joe Biden has nominated Massachusetts State Representative Claire Cronin to become ambassador to Ireland.

The 61-year-old Democrat, who represents Brockton and Easton, was first elected to the House in 2012 and served as a mediator during the Catholic clergy sex abuse settlement. She currently serves as House majority leader.

Cronin is a graduate of Stonehill College and Suffolk University Law School. Before being elected to the State House, she had a law practice in Brockton.

Cronin said she was honored by the nomination.
