Church Bells Will Toll 71 Times For Menino's Final Ride
BOSTON (CBS) -- Church bells in Boston will ring 71 times Monday morning to honor former Mayor Tom Menino as he makes his final ride through the city.
The bells in Boston's neighborhood parishes and cathedrals are set to toll once for each year of the mayor's life at 10:45 a.m. to start the procession from Faneuil Hall to Most Precious Blood Parish in Hyde Park, where Menino's funeral will take place.

Menino died Thursday after a long battle with cancer.

From Faneuil Hall, where Menino lay in state on Sunday, the procession will continue to city hall, then the Parkman House, Boston University/Kenmore Square, Fenway Park, Dudley Square, Grove Hall, Franklin Park, Bowdoin Geneva, Mattapan Library and Roslindale Square before arriving at Most Precious Blood at noon.
Each location has a significant role in Menino's life.
The public is encouraged to line the procession route.
Signs reading "Thank You Mayor Menino" will be available at 10:30 a.m. at several locations, including City Hall, Fenway Park, Suffolk University and Roslindale Square.

Monday's funeral is a private event. Members of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus will be providing music, and Rev. John J. Connolly Jr. of St. John Chrysostom Paris in West Roxbury will deliver the homily.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomas. M. Menino Fund for Boston so that the family can continue to support the programs that Mayor Menino embraced and that helped so many.
