Children Sickened By Marijuana-Laced Gummy Candies, Police Say

HARVARD (CBS) -- Police in Harvard are warning parents that children in the area are using edible drugs and getting sick.

"Over the last few weeks several kids in this area have ended up in the hospital," police said Tuesday in a Facebook post.

The department shared photos of gummy candies made from marijuana byproducts. Some are sold commercially while others can be made at home by mixing chemicals, police said.

The warning label on EdiPure Red Fish, one of the products police cited, says "Medical Use Only – Keep From Children."

Police are asking parents to take the time to look what children have on them before they leave the house.

"Please take this seriously and don't think 'it's just pot,' police said. "These are chemically altered items that are hurting kids."
