8-Year-Old Boy Struck By Vehicle, Seriously Injured In Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE (CBS) -- An eight-year-old boy is suffering serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in Cambridge late Tuesday night.

Massachusetts State Police said the boy was crossing Land Boulevard, though not in a crosswalk, when he was struck around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday by a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck.

State Police said the 53-year-old old man who was driving remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators.

The boy was taken to Mass. General Hospital. Police said his injuries were "very serious."

Police say the boy was walking with an adult male and two other children at the time of the crash. Initial investigation shows the children had run ahead of the adult and entered the road without stopping.

The crash remains under investigation, but so far no charges have been filed.
