Boy Injured By Tree Limb In 'Freak Accident' In Concord

CONCORD (CBS) - A young child was injured in a "freak accident" when he was struck by a large fallen tree limb Saturday night, police say.

The two-year-old boy was playing outside just before 8 p.m. when he was hit by the limb outside an apartment complex on Nathan Pratt Drive.

Witness David Poor told WBZ that the boy was walking with his parents when the incident happened.

"A (pine) branch from the heavy snowfall snapped off and hit the little boy," Poor said, adding that he was then rushed off to the hospital.

He was rushed to Emerson Hospital and then was transported to Boston Children's Hospital.

There is no word on his condition.

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
