Chicopee Police Chief Seriously Injured In Motorcycle Crash

CHICOPEE (AP) — A Massachusetts police chief has been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident.

The Chicopee Police Department says Chief William Jebb crashed at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday near an interstate off-ramp in the city.

Responding to a 911 call, first responders found him lying in the road. The caller said no other vehicles were involved.

Jebb, who was alert and conscious, was stabilized at the scene and taken to the hospital.

Officer Michael Wilk posted on Facebook on Friday that Jebb remains in the hospital in stable condition and was "his old self, worried more about his department and officers than his own condition."

State police are conducting the accident investigation.
