Charlton Police Warn Of Fraudulent Fallen Officer Fund

CHARLTON (CBS) – Police are warning residents in Charlton that someone is calling houses soliciting money for a Fallen Officers Fund that is not a legitimate organization.

The scam comes in the days following the shooting death of Auburn Police Officer Ronald Tarentino.

"These lecherous people are pulling on the heartstrings of the community in order to line their pockets," police said.

Police say the calls have been coming from the phone number (413) 239-2393.

A fund has been created into Tarentino's honor. Donations can be sent to:
