Centerville Elementary School Teacher Accused Of Bullying Autistic Child

CENTERVILLE (CBS) – A Centerville Elementary School teacher has been placed on administrative leave after being accused of bullying a special needs student.

The grandmother of a five-year-old student with autism says the teacher roughly handled and spoke down to her grandson.

The teacher's name has not been released.

The school confirms that the Department of Children and Families and the Barnstable Police Department have been notified of the allegations.

The school district is also conducting a thorough investigation.

"Our goal is to determine the facts as quickly as possible and either clear the teacher of the allegations and return the teacher to the classroom, or take other appropriate action," Barnstable Schools Superintendent Mary Czajkowski said in a statement.
