Celtics Trade Nelson To Nuggets For Nate Robinson

BOSTON (CBS) -- Jameer Nelson's stay with the Boston Celtics didn't last very long.

Nate Robinson's second stint with the team isn't expected to last very long either.

The Celtics traded Nelson, who they acquired from the Dallas Mavericks in December's Rajon Rondo trade, to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday. In return they received Robinson, but Danny Ainge is reportedly already working on a buyout for the veteran guard, who played 81 games for the Celtics from 2009-2011.

Nelson, who complained about playing time in recent weeks, played in just six games for the Celtics, averaging 4.8 points and 5.5 assists.

Tuesday's trade saves Boston $625,000 for this season, and they no longer have to worry about Nelson's player option for next season.

Ainge has now made eight trades since July, with more moves likely on the horizon.
