Celtics Make Young Fan's Wish Come True
BOSTON (CBS) - Tuesday was a big day for 12-year-old Brooklyn Pierce. It was his first trip to the Boston Garden, first time at the Celtics. But he got to do it all, meet the players, the coaches even the team management. He even helped out on the court. They had him shagging balls during the warm up for the scrimmage.
This is all part of Brooklyn's wish. He lives in Iowa, but loves the Celtics so Make A Wish Foundation set it up, but that's not all. Brooklyn got a one-day contract, a jersey, a locker and became a member of the team for a day.
Brooklyn says, "That was awesome!"
His mother can't believe his luck.
Jessica Pierce says, "It's very overwhelming, we are so happy and feel so blessed and lucky to be here."
For a boy with cerebral palsy and epilepsy, his life hasn't been easy. His mom says he's battled depression and low self-confidence, but now he's the star of his school. His friends can't believe he's getting to see the team. His dream day with his dream team, is so much more than this family from Iowa could ever wish.
Jessica says, "It's been a huge boost for him, a once in a lifetime he will always remember."
