Kelly Olynyk Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery
BOSTON (CBS) -- Kelly Olynyk has undergone successful right shoulder surgery, the Celtics announced on Tuesday.
Olynyk underwent arthroscopy for recurrent subluxations on Monday, in hopes of fixing the shoulder that bothered him for stretches throughout the 2015-16 season. The third-year forward will begin an immediate rehab program, but the Celtics say there is no time frame for Olynyk's return to basketball activities.
Boston's stretch-four initially injured his shoulder on February 10 early in an overtime win against the Los Angeles Clippers, causing him to miss the next 14 games. He played the rest of the regular season but Olynyk aggravated the shoulder in Game 1 of Boston's playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks. After missing Games 2 and 3 of the series, he was limited to just a total of 19 minutes in Games 4, 5 and 6.
Olynyk was one of Boston's better shooters last season, hitting 40.5 percent of his shots from beyond the arc. He finished the year averaging 10 points and 4.1 rebounds over 69 regular season games.
