Celtics Jared Sullinger Out For Season With Foot Injury

BOSTON (CBS) -- A foot injury has ended forward Jared Sullinger's season, the Boston Celtics announced Sunday.

Sullinger, Boston's top scorer this season at 14.4 points per game, said he started feeling discomfort in his left foot the day after the team beat the Atlanta Hawks before the All-Star break.

The team said after undergoing further medical evaluation at New England Baptist Hospital, it was determined that he had suffered a left metatarsal stress fracture and will be sidelined for the rest of the 2014-15 regular season.

"They didn't tell me a lot, they just told me I'd be out a little bit," Sullinger told reporters Thursday. "It sucks, honestly. Especially with the type of [playoff] push we're trying to make. For me to not be a part of it on the court — I'm trying to help the team from different angles."
