Celtics Brad Stevens Named Eastern Conference Coach Of The Month

BOSTON (CBS) -- Brad Stevens is heading to the NBA Playoffs for the first time in his career, and has a nice honor to bring with him.

The Celtics head coach was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for April.

Stevens led his Celtics to a 7-1 record over the final month of the regular season, finishing things off with a six-game win streak. That included a perfect 4-0 on the road.

Five of Boston's wins in April came against teams heading to the playoffs, helping them secure the seventh seed in the East. The Celtics will now face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of playoffs.

This is the first time Stevens has won the award in his two seasons in Boston.

L.A. Clippers coach Doc Rivers, who Stevens replaced, was named the Western Conference coach of the month.
