Castonzo: Andrew Luck's Strange Reading Choices & AFCCG Preview

BOSTON (CBS) - To help preview the AFC Championship Game, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich had on Colts offensive lineman and former Boston College standout Anthony Castonzo Wednesday morning.

But before the game preview, Toucher & Rich just had to ask the left tackle about the man he protects on a daily basis.

Andrew Luck is a strange character. He sports a neckbeard that even he knows is a bad look, and when he gets sacked, or hit hard, he's very complimentary of the defensive player:

"It's really weird, I'm not gonna lie," Castonzo said about his quarterback. "But he's a big guy who can take a hit, and he's genuinely complimenting the guys. If they give him a good hit, he wants them to know it."

"Obviously Andrew Luck is a physical marvel. He's a football savant. But he seems like a huge dork," Fred said all in good fun. "Is that correct?"

"I can't talk about my quarterback like that. [laughter] He's a different guy, and he's got a lot of different interests. But I can't call my quarterback a dork," Castonzo responded.

Fred adds, "What are some of his different interests? Could you shed some light on that?"

"He does a lot of reading. So he was an architect major at Stanford, and [one day] he was reading a book about the history of concrete."

"I can't think of anything more boring," Rich burst out into laughter.

"There's literally nothing more boring," said Fred, who then switched topics to the matter at hand. That is, the AFC Championship Game.

The Luck-led Indianapolis Colts haven't had much success against the Patriots.

Luck is 0-3 against New England, getting outscored 144-66 in those three games, with the average margin of victory by the Patriots at 26 points. Luck has thrown six touchdowns to eight interceptions in those contests.

In their most recent meeting, a Week 11 contest at Lucas Oil Stadium, running back Jonas Gray rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns en route to a 42-20 Patriots victory.

Castonzo believes his Colts are a much different team now than they were then. Not quite able to put a finger on it, Castonzo simply states they're executing better and beaming with confidence after beating Peyton Manninig and the Denver Broncos on the road.
