Casey Affleck To Star In Boston Marathon Bombings Movie

BOSTON (CBS) -- Massachusetts native Casey Affleck is set to star in a movie about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings and the ensuing manhunt for the suspects, according to a magazine report.

Variety reports that Affleck will also produce the movie, which is based on the book "Boston Strong." The screenplay would be written by the same men who wrote "The Fighter," a movie about Lowell Boxer Micky Ward, according to Variety.

Producers will be shopping the project to studios next week, Variety said. Affleck is no stranger to the Boston film scene, with roles in "Good Will Hunting" and "Gone Baby Gone."

The April 15 bombings killed three people and injured an estimated 264 others.
