Carver Police Officer Rescues Dog From Submerged Pickup Truck

CARVER (CBS) – A Carver police officer proved to be the best friend of man's best friend when he pulled a pooch from a submerged pickup Saturday afternoon.

Officers responded to a call at 3:40 P.M. at South Meadow Village, a 55-plus residential community, where a 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was under 8 feet of water, Carver police reported.

The driver, Debra Titus of Plymouth, had managed to get out of the truck but her two dogs were inside when it sunk.

One of the dogs escaped on its own but the other was trapped inside.

Officer David Harriman, described by Carver police as an avid dog lover, removed his gun belt and dove into the murky water.

Harriman was able to open the door to the truck and retrieve the pup.

The lucky dog was returned to its owner, and while frightened was otherwise healthy.
