Car Slams Into Norwood Starbucks, Driver Runs Away

NORWOOD (CBS) - The driver who crashed a car into a coffee shop in Norwood early Monday morning has turned herself in to police.

A Hyundai Sonata slammed into the side of the Starbucks on Route 1 around 1 a.m., leaving a large hole in the brick building and debris scattered inside the store.

The driver ran off, according to police, who seized her damaged car.

No injuries were reported.

Norwood Police chief William Brooks told WBZ-TV a 22-year-old woman from Brockton later came to the police station and admitted she was the driver.

She's charged with negligent operation and leaving the scene of an accident.

Her name has not been made public.

Police said she was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, she was just leaving work, hit a guard rail, then over corrected causing the accident.

She admitted to everything, according to investigators, and will not be in court.
