Car Crashes Into Utility Pole, House In Saugus

SAUGUS (CBS) -- A car crash took down power lines in Saugus on Friday. A 2021 Nissan Sentra drove into a utility pole and the corner of a house.

It happened on Essex Street around 10:30 a.m.

The pole was snapped and almost completely on the ground. A transformer was also damaged, causing power outages in the area.

It appears the 64-year-old Saugus man driving had a medical issue that caused him to lose control of the car, police said, but the crash is still under investigation.

The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The residents of the house weren't home at the time. The front porch was damaged.

Essex Street will remain closed as repairs continue.
