2 In Custody After Pursuit Ends With Large Police Search In Canton

CANTON (CBS) – Two people were taken into custody following a large search after a pursuit that began in Boston.

At about 10:30 a.m., a Massachusetts State Police trooper saw a vehicle wanted by Boston Police traveling on Interstate 93 North in Braintree.

Boston Police had reported that the man, who was driving the silver Ford Edge seen in Braintree, had allegedly shown a gun during an early encounter with police. The second man had already been arrested by Boston Police after the incident.

State Police said that at some while the trooper was in pursuit of the suspect, the man showed a handgun.

With Boston Police, State Police and Canton Police following the suspect, he pulled into a driveway on Turnpike Street in Canton and ran away on foot. After a large search, Canton Police saw the suspect walking in the area and arrested him.

The man, later identified as Jaumell Clayton, 29, was transferred into custody of Boston Police. Both suspects will face charges in Boston.
