Driver Rescues Elderly Passenger From Burning Cab In Quincy

QUINCY (CBS) -- A taxi cab caught fire Wednesday afternoon in Quincy with a driver and elderly passenger inside.

Police said the cab burst into flames on School Street around 2:30 p.m. The cab driver escaped, but the elderly woman in the backseat needed assistance because she was carrying two canes. The cab driver returned to get her out.

"His only concern was her safety, and he was pretty heroic," said witness John McDonald, who shot the video seen above. "He took care of her needs before anything else, and got her inside the building, so she was very grateful to him."

Police said nobody was injured.
