Bursts Of Snow And Rain Today

A fast, energetic disturbance will cross the region today bringing bursts of snow, rain and sleet to southern New England.  Temperatures are marginal enough that accumulation and slippery travel won't be a huge concern in most of eastern MA.  Across the interior though and stretching into central and northern New England – winter weather advisories are in effect until 7 PM this evening. Watch for some slick spots on anything untreated.  Accumulation should generally be minor – a coating to perhaps an inch around and outside of 128 with the best chance of a couple of inches in the hilly terrain of central MA into Vermont, NH and Maine.

Behind this disturbance, we get a relatively quiet but cloudy and breezy day tomorrow. Highs will generally be in the middle to upper 30s (wind chills in the 20s). MLK Day will feature slightly cooler temperatures (mid 30s) with a brief snow shower possible…then frigid air makes its return to the region.
