Bruins Sign Simon Gagne To One-Year Deal

BOSTON (CBS) -- In hopes of adding a little scoring punch to their lineup, the Boston Bruins have signed forward Simon Gagne.

Gagne, who spent training camp and the preseason with Boston despite not having a contract, inked a one-year, one-way contract worth a cap figure of $600,000, the Bruins announced Tuesday morning.

A veteran of 13 NHL seasons, Gagne has scored a total of 288 goals with 309 assists for 597 points and a career plus-129 rating in 799 games between the Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Los Angeles Kings. He has appeared in 109 NHL postseason games, accruing 37 goals and 22 assists for 59 points.

Gagne skated on Boston's fourth line at practice on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old most recently played with Philadelphia during the 2012-13 season, skating in tallying five goals and six assists in 27 games.

In addition to signing Gagne, Boston also waived forward Bobby Robins for purpose of assignment to Providence and assigned forward Jordan Caron to Providence.
