Bruins Plus/Minus: Rounding Into Form After 3-0 Shutout Over Capitals

BOSTON (CBS) - Once the NHL games resumed following the Winter Olympic break the Bruins came out of the gate sluggish and lost their first two games.

Some felt like the team wouldn't round into form for a couple weeks following the time off, but if these last three games are any indication that point seems moot right about now.

The Bruins have rattled off three in a row, including Thursday night's 3-0 shutout victory over the Washington Capitals at the TD Garden, increasing their Atlantic Division lead on the Canadiens to 8 points and narrowing Pittsburgh's Eastern Conference lead to just 1 point.

As this condensed March schedule continues the Bruins have picked up some much-needed momentum as they're about to embark on a three game road trip with two games in Florida and one in Montreal before returning home to face Phoenix Thursday, March 13th.

Adam Jones was on air postgame to provide the highlights and lowlights from the game in a segment we call "Plus/Minus."

Plus

1. Gregory Campbell: The "Merlot Line" has been a bright spot for the team lately, and Campbell netted his seventh goal of the season early in the second period Thursday night. It's his fourth goal in four games.

2. Loui Eriksson: He was a plus player in his first game back since a heel infection, and his second period wrist shot goal within minutes of Campbell's widened the margin which the Bruins would never relinquish.

3. Patrice Bergeron: One assist, eight shots on goal and a +2 rating.

Minus

1. The entire Washington Capitals: Just an ugly performance all around by the Caps. 16 shots on goal versus the Bruins' 43 - that's not gonna get it done.

2. Alex Ovechkin: Just one shot on goal and a missed chance on a wide open net.
