Bruins Among Teams Showing Interest In Cody Franson

BOSTON (CBS) -- In need of a few more bodies on their blue line, the Boston Bruins are one of the teams showing interest in Cody Franson.

Franson told TSN 1040 on Tuesday that Boston is among five or six teams he's in contract talks with as he looks for a new team.

"Boston would be an interesting spot. It's obviously an awesome city and they've got a great organization and all those things that come with it," said Franson. "Like I said, there's a handful of other teams, too, and everything's kind of slow rolling at the moment, and we're taking it day-by-day."

After his last three deals were for just one year, the 27-year-old Franson is hoping to get some long-term security with the next contract he signs. A six-year NHL veteran, Franson had a career-high 36 points in 78 games last season, split between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Nashville Predators.

The 6-foot-5 Franson has played in 400 regular season games over his career, tallying 35 goals and 134 assists, with four goals and 11 assists in 28 career playoff games.

Franson was originally a third-round pick by the Predators in 2005.
