BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Bruins have added another forward to their roster.

Boston acquired Zac Rinaldo from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for their third round draft pick in 2017, the team announced on Monday.

Rinaldo, 25, has four season of NHL experience. He's played in 223 games, all with Philadelphia, scoring eight goals with 16 assists while compiling 572 penalty minutes and a minus-30 rating. He's also played in 14 playoff games without registering a point.

In his AHL career with Adirondack Phantoms, he accumulated 434 penalty minutes in 95 games.

Last season, Rinaldo was suspended eight games for his hit from behind on Pittsburgh's Kris Letang. In April of 2014, Rinaldo was suspended four games for a hit to the head of Buffalo defenseman Chad Ruhwedel. In 2012, Rinaldo was suspended two games for a leaping hit into the face of an unsuspecting Jonathan Ericsson. He was also fined twice that season, once for a slewfoot and once for a late hit.

Rinaldo has played in nine games against the Bruins in his career, registering zero points and 40 penalty minutes.
