Brother Of Somerville Mayor Arrested On Rape Charges

BOSTON (CBS) – Cosmo Curtatone, the brother of Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone, is facing charges of attempted rape, assault and battery and larceny after an alleged attack on an Everett woman.

According to the arrest report, the woman told police that Cosmo Curtatone said he could do whatever he wants to her, reminding her that his political family has many friends that can protect him.

The woman claims Cosmo stole items from her wallet last week then shoved her and tried to rape her.

Police say they have responded to several calls involving Curatone and the woman in the past.

Curtatone was initially held without bail. He faces a dangerousness hearing later this week.

Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone refused to comment.
