Arrest Made In Murder Of 20-Year-Old Nicolas Kern In Brookline

BROOKLINE (CBS) – An arrest has been made in the stabbing death of 20-year-old Nicolas Kern in Brookline. Singha Ouen, 21, of Brookline, was arrested at a home on Wallace Circle in Malden Tuesday.

Kern was found stabbed multiple times at Amory Park early Tuesday morning. He was taken to the hospital but later died of his injuries.

Investigators won't say how the victim and suspect know each other or why they were in the park after 1:00 a.m.

"There's evidence that these parties were known to each other," said Brookline Police Chief Andrew Lipson. "There's no ongoing danger to the community."

The suspect is being held at the Brookline Police Department.

"I would like to extend our condolences to the Kern family for the loss of this young life," Lipson said.

Police say this is the first murder in Brookline in more than a decade. "Brookline is a very safe place," Lipson said. "The last murder that took place in Brookline was in January 2006 on Boylston Street."

Investigators say more information will be released at Singha Ouen's arraignment Thursday morning in Brookline District Court.
