Bronze Flag Holders Stolen From Graves In Norwood

NORWOOD (CBS) – Dozens of bronze flag holders were stolen from a Norwood cemetery overnight.

Two piles of the flag holders, which were stolen from the graves of military veterans, police officers and firefighters, were found by the Highland Cemetery Superintendent Friday morning.

Police believe the thief or thieves were interrupted or scared off.

"Likely, the flag holders are being stolen again for scrap, for money, probably for drugs," Norwood Police said on their Facebook page. "In each instance, the flag was placed back into the ground so as to not be obvious."

Police have increased patrols in the area of the cemetery.
