Brockton man pleads not guilty to shooting and killing 14-year-old stepson

BROCKTON – Justelino Resende pleaded not guilty on charges that he allegedly shot and killed his 14-year-old stepson early Tuesday morning in Brockton.

It happened just before 2 a.m. on Tribou Street.

Nehemiah Cepeda was rushed to the hospital but later pronounced dead. His mother, 39-year-old Felicia Cepeda Williams, was brought to Boston Medical Center in critical condition. She remains hospitalized.

During his arraignment Tuesday in Brockton District Court, Resende pleaded not guilty to one count each of murder, and posession of a firearm. He is also charged with two counts of assault with attempt to murder.

Resende was held without bail.
