Brockton Police Shoot Knife-Wielding Man

BROCKTON (CBS) – Brockton Police shot a man in his 20s who was wielding a knife on Friday.

No officers were injured. Police were called to Court Street around noon for a report of a man carrying a knife.

Two officers in two cars responded to the scene.

"The man advanced at both of the officers at one point and shots were fired," said Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz.

At least one officer opened fire. "My understanding is that only one did at this time, but I'm going to wait for the ballistics," Cruz said.

The suspect was shot several times. His condition was not known.

Karen Clyborn, a neighborhood resident, said she was inside her home when gunfire erupted.

"I was wide awake, at the top of the stairs sitting in my living room, and you're telling me they were shooting?" she said.
