Boy Dies After Falling From 9th Floor Window In Brockton

BROCKTON (CBS) -- A nine-year-old boy died after he fell from a ninth-floor window in Brockton Sunday. The fall happened at Belair Tower around 9:25 a.m., the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office confirmed.

The boy was unresponsive when first responders arrived. He was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead, the D.A. said.

A woman told WBZ-TV she heard the fall. "I was sitting on the back porch and I heard this loud crash, and I said 'somebody threw something from the window," said Curlie Beauliere. "When I went down there, that's when I saw him laying on the ground, bleeding and wasn't responding. I called 911."

Brockton Police and Massachusetts State Police are investigating how the boy fell. Foul play is not suspected.

According to sources, the boy had special needs and was being taken care of by his grandmother on Sunday.

"I really feel bad for the grandmother because he was in her presence when this happened. When you lose a child, it's bad enough but when you leave them with somebody else and something happens to them, it's even worse," said Beauliere.

The boy's identity has not been released at this time.
