Bridgewater Boy With Flu-Like Symptoms Dies; Police Investigating

BRIDGEWATER (CBS) -- Authorities are investigating after a 9-year-old boy who had been suffering from flu-like symptoms died in Bridgewater Saturday morning.

District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said that the boy had been cared for by a doctor and foul play is not suspected.

Police were called at 5:28 a.m. to 289 High St. in Bridgewater and found Evan Fisher unresponsive and not breathing, Cruz said. Fisher was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"State Police interviewed family members who said the boy had been suffering from flu-like symptoms for several days and had been under the care of a physician," Cruz said.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, Cruz said.
