Bicyclist Seriously Hurt After Crashing Into Car In Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER (CBS) -- A bicyclist was seriously hurt after he crashed into the side of a car in Bridgewater Thursday morning.

Police and firefighters were called to the intersection of Pearl and Perkins streets around 7:30 a.m. and found the bicyclist, Stephen Rogan, 38, of Bridgewater, on the ground conscious with a head injury.

Rogan was rushed to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston on a medical rescue helicopter. There's no word yet on his condition.

Witnesses told police the driver was at a stop sign on Perkins Street waiting to travel onto Pearl Street, when Rogan rode his bike across Pearl, tried to turn onto Perkins, and struck the side of the car.

Rogan was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

No charges have been filed at this point in the investigation.
