Most folks want to see the Grand Canyon at some point during their lives, and I would urge you to make the trip sooner than later. As vacation destinations go, it's a fairly simple trip. Get a non-stop flight to Phoenix, Las Vegas, or Salt Lake City. The later options will give you access to the North Rim, which is more impressive and far less crowded. Only ten per-cent of Canyon-goers choose the North Rim. Starting in Phoenix gives you the opportunity to stay in Sedona, which is impressive in its own way. If you do not go to the North Rim, then enter at the East Rim, as the lines are much shorter there. Many never go to the East Rim which is unfortunate because it affords a fine view of the Painted Desert. Make sure to stay at the Canyon long enough to enjoy the evening colors. Take lots of photos.
Here is a quick video from my recent trip to the Canyon that includes an original sound-track with a western feel.
