Brad Marchand Named NHL's Third Star Of The Week

BOSTON (CBS) -- Brad Marchand is on remarkable run right now for the Boston Bruins, and as a result he's getting some accolades from the NHL.

The league named Marchand the third star of the week, with Detroits' Pavel Datsyuk and New York's Henrik Lundqvist getting the first and second stars, respectively.

Marchand scored four goals and assisted on three more in four games, as the Bruins went 2-2 in that stretch.

The week was just part of a longer hot streak, in which Marchand has scored in seven straight games and 12 of his last 13 games. He's posted 13-3-16 totals in those 13 games. The NHL noted that Marchand is the first player to have such a stretch since Teemu Selanne did in the 1998-99 season. The last Bruins player to have such a stretch was Cam Neely in the 1993-94 season.

Marchand and the Bruins next take the ice Tuesday night in Columbus.
