Boy Hit By Stray Bullet In Chelsea Apartment

CHELSEA (CBS) – A boy is recovering after he was struck by a stray bullet in Chelsea Wednesday night. The 13-year-old was inside an apartment and was hit in the shoulder.

Police say they responded to a call for shots fired between a group of youths on Bellingham Street at 8:20 p.m. When they arrived, they were directed to a third floor apartment and found the boy who was struck by a stray bullet fired from the street.

Family members tell WBZ the boy was lying in bed when he was struck.

The boy suffered a non-life threatening wound and was taken to Mass General Hospital.

Police Chief Brian Kyes says two suspects in dark hooded sweatshirts fled in a dark colored Ford Explorer SUV. No arrests have been made.
