Boy Injured After Falling From Wachusett Mountain Chairlift

WESTMINSTER (CBS) –A boy was injured over the weekend when he fell from a chairlift at Wachusett Mountain.

An official at the mountain said that Sunday at about 11:40 a.m. a 12-year-old fell from the Polar Express Quad Chairlift, which services the advanced trails.

The boy fell about one third of the way up the mountain.

Ski patrol responded to the area and transported the boy to the base of the mountain. From there he was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester by ambulance.

Mountain officials are conducting a full investigation with staff and witnesses to determine what caused the boy to fall.

Family members of the boy were at the mountain when the incident took place.

Wachusett officials said they "are continuing to be in contact with the father and wish his son a speedy recovery."
