Good Samaritans Rescue Woman From Burning Car In Bourne

BOURNE (CBS) -- Two passing motorists were able to pull a woman to safety early Sunday morning after her car burst into flames.

Bourne Police said the 63-year-old woman became trapped in her Subaru Crosstrek after it crashed into a pole and caught fire around 5 a.m. Sunday on Sandwich Road.

They said two drivers stopped to help free her from the car, and that those two Good Samaritans were not injured.

The rescued driver was taken to an area hospital.

Police said it didn't appear that speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

They said the driver will be charged with operating to endanger, and failure to stay in marked lanes.

Sandwich Road was closed until about 6:30 a.m. as officials assessed the damage to the road and utility pole.
