Boston's Innovation District Changes Parking Meter Time Limit

New metering rules will take effect in some Boston neighborhoods starting Monday.

Drivers will be able to park for up to four hours at a meter on Summer Street in the Innovation District. Congress Street meters will have a two-hour limit.

Transportation officials are implementing these new changes to gather data on how the parking spaces are actually used. The time limit changes will ensure more availability of on-street parking spaces, officials said.

"This is just one example where we are using technology as a tool to help the city manage a public resource more efficiently," Boston's Mayor Martin J. Walsh said in a public statement.
