BOSTON (CBS) - A Boston Harbor whale watch boat will spend Monday night 16 miles off shore after it became stuck on a lobster pot and its line.

The boat was carrying 157 passengers during its Monday cruise when it became stuck on a lobster pot and its line at around 4:30 p.m., according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The company hired a crew to free the ship but those efforts were unsuccessful. Another vessel, the Nathaniel Bowbitch, was brought out to take passengers back to shore at around 9 p.m. but that effort did not proceed.

The company scheduled another effort to free the boat on Tuesday morning, according to the Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard had two boats stationed near the ship overnight to bring food, water and blankets to the passengers, the Coast Guard said. Medics were also responding to the scene.
