Crashes Inside O'Neill Tunnel Snarl Rush Hour Traffic

BOSTON (CBS) – A pair of crashes on Interstate 93 caused significant traffic delays during the morning commute in Boston.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said one crash took place around 8 a.m. on Interstate 93 North at entrance to the O'Neill Tunnel.

Another was reported on I-93 near the Mass Pike.

Major traffic delays resulted from the crashes.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, by 8:25 a.m. the vehicle involved in the crash near the tunnel entrance was towed and all lanes were open.

Cleanup from the second crash caused more significant lane closures.

By 9:30 a.m., all lanes had been reopened following the crash near the Mass Pike. Previously two lanes were closed due to debris in the road.

Though all lanes are now open, traffic remains backed up in the area.
