Boston Trades Mujica To Athletics

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox dealt struggling relief pitcher Edward Mujica to the Oakland Athletics for a player to be named later or cash.

The Red Sox made the announcement on Saturday night.

Mujica, 30, was designated for assignment by Boston on Friday.

The right-hander made 11 appearances out of the Red Sox' bullpen, tallying a 1-1 record with a 4.61 earned run average.

He allowed 15 hits, seven runs, three walks while striking out eight in 13 2/3 innings.

The reliever has also played for the Cleveland Indians, San Diego Padres, Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals.
