Boston To Up Security During Super Bowl Game
BOSTON (CBS) -- City officials are taking measures to ensure residents stay safe during the Super Bowl game on Sunday.
The Boston Police Department announced Friday it plans to increase patrols in high-traffic parts of the city on Sunday.
The department will also enforce temporary parking restrictions in parts of the city Sunday night.
Kenmore Square will be shut down after the third quarter of the game, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said in a public statement Friday.
State Police also plans to deploy crowd control units on and around Boylston Street.
City officials also reminded the public -- regardless of the game's outcome -- to celebrate responsibly.
"We are taking steps to ensure a safe and fun Super Bowl," said Boston's Mayor Marty Walsh. "We need everyone else to do their part, and celebrate in a respectful and responsible manner."
