Boston To Commemorate Anniversary Of Pearl Harbor Attack

BOSTON (AP) — Boston National Historical Park will host a service and wreath-laying ceremony aboard the World War II-era destroyer USS Cassin Young to commemorate the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.

The service will held Monday. The program includes a rifle salute, a rendition of "Taps" by the Leatherneck Honors Society and the musical selection "Remember Pearl Harbor" by the Apollo Club of Boston.

The destroyer is named for U.S. Navy Commander Cassin Young, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the attack.

It has been at the historical park in the Charlestown Navy Yard since 1978.

The Dec. 7, 1941, surprise attack by Japan on the U.S. Navy base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii claimed about 2,400 American lives and pushed the United States into World War II.
