Boston Students Navigate Snowbanks, Ice In Return To School

BOSTON (CBS) -- The early wake-up call for Boston students after a week off wasn't the toughest challenge they faced Monday morning.

The most difficult thing about school proved to be getting there.

Record-setting snowfall has narrowed sidewalks and created monstrous snowbanks, and snow-filled bus stops left kids no place to stand.

"Literally ice everywhere," one Brighton High School student said. "I believe there was a sidewalk, but I couldn't see it so I just slipped and fell backwards."

She was OK, but realized right away that vacation is over.

"It's not good. I'd rather stay home," she said.
